2022 Boudoir Events

Pink-Ribbon Boudoir Photo Retreat—
August 19&20, 2022, Tucson, Arizona
7 breast-cancer survivor/warriors won an all-paid half-weekend photo retreat at a gorgeous desert home on the western edge of Tucson, donated for the event by owner Kimberly Maisto of Keller Williams Southern Arizona. Friday's evening reception welcomed and introduced survivors, photographer Jana, nonprofit Nadia, salon-service providers, volunteer helpers and doctor sponsors. Survivors made Saturday's appointments for hair/makeup/nails/wardrobe plus private photo sessions, started "shopping" the client boudoir wardrobe and stilettos/boots to try on for their shoot, and returned early morning next day for a busy Saturday mixed with making new friends in-between salon services and photo shoots. Unfortunately an unrelenting dark and rainy sky kept survivors from relaxing poolside but did not dissuade from sharing and caring.

Drawing from 32 nominations, 5 Survivors won the all-paid

Who Could Come?
Whether physical treatment happened awhile ago or a survivor/warrior is still in treatment, the emotional scarring can endure. Nominations came from friends and family of survivors as well as from survivors themselves.
When funded for additional photo events, more survivors will benefit from Pink-Ribbon Boudoir as a recurrent program.

Photographs & PhotoBooks
Following the boudoir-photo retreat each survivor chose her favorite images from a curated collection, then Jana photo-finished all final selections and custom designed a personalized keepsake photobook with about 50 photos for every survivor.
Seeing reactions to a boudoir book where they are the beauty in the photos? Priceless. Women have been moved to tears.

Public Photo Exhibit
Showcasing the survivors' images in 50 large canvas photographs provides opportunity to publicly acknowledge and give gratitude to donors and sponsors of both events, the photo retreat and exhibit.

The exhibit also serves as fundraiser through our nonprofit partner Nadia Strong Foundation to help defray expenses with photo sales and silent-auction donations. Photographs give a face to survivorship as survivors embrace their new normal while celebrating getting to the other side just to be alive.
